Porsche Hungaria
Hungary's largest car importer
The company's articles of association were signed on October 30, 1990, establishing one of Austria's largest private companies, Porsche Holding's first subsidiary in Eastern Europe. The preparations for this were carried out by Porsche-Inter Auto Kereskedelmi Képviselet, the first Porsche dealership established in Hungary, which also signed the agreement on the establishment of MGE as a founding member on October 23. Porsche Holding saw a long-term strategic goal in exploiting the opening of Eastern European borders and economic investment opportunities, and it was here that the sales and network-building methods already proven in Austria were first applied, in line with the "everything around the car" philosophy. The strategic approach of the founders is also reflected in the fact that Hungarian management was entrusted with the operation of the company from the very beginning.
When it was founded, Porsche Hungaria was commissioned to represent four brands: Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. SEAT and Skoda joined them in 1992, followed by Weltauto in 2000, which was established to sell used cars under warranty and has since been operating under the name Das Weltauto. Skoda was represented as a separate company called Autó Hungária from 1992 until 1996, when it was integrated with the other Volkswagen Group brand importers. Since 2009, Porsche Inter Auto Hungaria has been responsible for the domestic representation and sales of the Porsche brand, meaning that Porsche Hungaria is no longer responsible for the German premium brand in Hungary. Since 2019, CUPRA has also been operating as a separate brand in Hungary, which, having split off from SEAT, is conquering the market with youthful enthusiasm as a young brand, achieving success after success. The youngest member of Porsche Hungaria is MOON, which is responsible for the sale of charging systems.

Electromobility and sustainability are also key priorities for Porsche Hungaria. On July 13, 2021, the Volkswagen Group presented its strategy for the coming decade, which aims to transform the Group into a software-based mobility company. There is a strong focus on strengthening brands and global technology platforms, thereby ensuring synergies and greater scale, as well as new, profitable business areas.
The next, much more radical change will be the transition to safer, smarter, and ultimately autonomous vehicles—all based on software.
Sustainability and carbon neutrality are key points of the new strategy. The Group plans to reduce its ecological footprint per vehicle (over the lifetime of the vehicles) by 30% by 2030 (compared to 2018), in line with the Paris Agreement. During the same period, the share of battery electric vehicles is expected to rise to 50%, while by 2040, virtually 100% of new vehicles manufactured by the Group in major markets will have zero emissions. The Group aims to become completely climate-neutral by 2050 at the latest. By 2033, the Group and its brands will switch to selling and manufacturing only pure electric models.
Maintaining a well-functioning and extensive dealer network has always been important to Porsche Hungaria. It is a remarkable achievement that, in the second year after the establishment of the Porsche dealership, which was launched alongside the already successful Óbuda Car Repair Shop dealing with Volkswagen cars, 96 dealerships were available to customers in the six-brand national network, with more than a hundred in the following years. Today, the network of seven brands belonging to Porsche Hungaria is available to customers at 196 locations with dealerships specializing in the sale of new and used cars.
Porsche Holding Austria's decades of successful practice thus served as the foundation for Porsche Hungaria, and following this, a wide range of services supporting car sales was developed in the 1990s. Today, in addition to the importer, the Porsche Financial Group, which provides banking, insurance, leasing, and insurance services, the associated Europcar car rental company, and the Parts Center logistics center, which enables the delivery of parts and accessories within one day, are also operating successfully. which now plays a central role in supplying parts to the region.
